Attention all stations. The Sacramento Valley Multi-city CERT net will begin on the K6MVR repeater at 20:00 hours pacific time. Thank you in advance for the use of this frequency. This is NAME, CALLSIGN, net control for this evening and standing by for the net.

Introduction

Good evening, this is the Sacramento Valley Multi-City Community Emergency Response Team net. I am NAME, CALL, net control for this evening. This net is for Sacramento Valley CERT teams and residents to discuss aspects of community supported emergency operations in the greater Sacramento area. It meets every Sunday night at 20:00 hours pacific time on the K6MVR repeater on a frequency of 147.000 MHz, with a minus offset and a CTCSS tone of 136.5 hertz.

Every week we will have a discussion topic or question for net participants to respond to, about CERT related activities and skills, emergency preparedness, fictitious situations to consider or about current events within the Sacramento Valley. These topics and simulations are designed to promote thought and discussion. As a reminder, CERT teams never self deploy and should always take actual actions and direction from their overseeing agency. After roll call, we will ask each station that checked in to respond to the question and hold a discussion based on it. After roll call and discussions, we will open the net to any stations with other announcements or traffic.

As a result of the last week's storms, many communities lost power outages, had trees fall, etc. What outages and damages have you experienced in your neighborhood?

As a reminder: we regularly do these storm reports after major storm series to understand their impact across the entire valley. Storms can cause isolated damage and it's important to realize when our local neighborhood might have fared well when others have not.

General announcements:

• some repeaters had problems during the storm (eg w6ek)
• k6mvr is still on battery power

The Director of the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services (OES) has asked Amateur Radio operators in the area to voluntarily report via radio any storm damage they might encounter to the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).  Types of incidents to report would be:

• significant flooding
• significant wind damage
• power outages
• down power and communication lines
• impassable streets due to flooding and/or down trees

The EOC has a radio room and will be monitoring the following repeaters:

• KS6HRP 146.610 (-)
  • 136.5 Hz tone for the Folsom listener
  • 100.0 Hz tone for the Mt. Vaca listener
• N6NA 145.250 (-) 162.2 Hz (BACKUP Repeater)

You can contact the EOC using the tactical call sign "Sac County EOC".  There will be an operator monitoring for the next several days according to the following schedule:

• Saturday Jan 7: 0800 to 2000
• Sunday Jan 8: 0800 to 2000
• Monday Jan 9: 0800 to 2300
• Tuesday Jan 10: 0800 to 1400
