Opening Announcements
-------------------------------
Imagine a long-term power outage of at least a week that prevents you from having your normal cooking mechanism (stove, oven, etc).  What alternatives do you have to heat food and boil water for ensuring safe food consumption.



Now we will begin CERT team roll calls, grouped by participating City CERT teams.  We will take any late or missing members after roll call finishes.  After roll call, we will call for visiting stations.


Davis City CERT

Sacramento Metro Fire CERT

- Large propane tank on site
- could switch to a generator to run a hot plate
- have a generator for well too

- Hot plate that can run off electricity
- gas stove
- 5 gallon propane after that
- camping stoves
- when running a generator, charge batteries with it as well so you don't run the generator all the time
- have water jugs available as well






West Sacramento

- generator to cook is almost not practical -- takes too much electricity
     - more important to keep refrige running
- cooking was done with gas
- had a wood stove as a fall back
- wells are an issue without power
- 5k generator is possibly sufficient, need 7k with a well

La trobe
- pg&e cut power a while back
- 4 days out
- have a 250 gallon propane tank
- didn't have heating though, other than a fire place
- unfortunately a well needed power and that was more challenging
- used car batteries to keep internet/tv up
