Opening Announcements
-------------------------------
In a lightning storm, how do you or would you alter you use of ham and other radios to protect them and you from lightening damage?



Now we will begin CERT team roll calls, grouped by participating City CERT teams.  We will take any late or missing members after roll call finishes.  After roll call, we will call for visiting stations.


Davis City CERT
-------------------------------
We now ask Davis City CERT members to check into the net.

- if you disconnect your radios from the atennas then it protects your radios further even if atennas are grounded.
- In particular, lightning will take **all** paths to ground

- if close and strong, unplug external atennas
- put coax in a connector in a coffee cup or something insulating
- Don't hold hands up high, etc.
- stay in your car if in one

- don't be the tallest object around yourself

- safety is number 1
- ensure any attenna has good grounding and lightning protection
- ensure comms team has a plan
- if in your car, does the height of the antenna matter?  Doesn't the rain make a path to ground?






Sacramento Metro Fire CERT

- generally need to do much
- will turn radios off
- unless lightning is severe or close
- if in a car, stop under a overpass
