Net Log: Sacramento Valley CERT Net About: Sacramento Valley CERT Net Date: Aug. 31, 2020 Net Control: WS6Z Log URL: https://log.hamtools.org/log/view/33 Opening Announcements ------------------------------- How does your city make use of both city provided radios simultaneously with ham radios when deployed on CERT callouts. Include any discussion about what you think works and what doesn't with respect to dual-radio communication if two types are in use. Now we will begin CERT team roll calls, grouped by participating City CERT teams. We will take any late or missing members after roll call finishes. After roll call, we will call for visiting stations. Davis City CERT ------------------------------- We now ask Davis City CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: WS6Z Wes Hardaker - bike race and volume and ear piece - KG6SJT Greg Kruckewitt - active callouts with radios in use - with county and ham outside cert, ham radios provided assistance to the operators. County radios were used for medical and urgent needs. Walking with two radios is difficult. - two radios with net control is challenging; coordination and breaking large nets in pieces is helpful W6KJX Lucile King - not much experience - test examples in training mostly - freezing up is a real problem with new people on the radios Elk Grove / Galt ------------------------------- We now ask Elk Grove / Galt City CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: KC6SGT George Carrington - training with radio communications is lacking and needs refreshing Folsom ------------------------------- We now ask Folsom CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: AA6CS Christopher - Not many occasions to use both - VHF during events - HAM for closer stuff - Getting 800MHz radios Sacramento Metro Fire CERT ------------------------------- We now ask Sacramento Metro Fire CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: KM6RIW Brad - CERT team has two types of radios: 800MHz and older VHF HTs - ham radio falls to a backup, along with cell phones - cert members in command post at the same time - two radios going off at once adds chaos - extra communication is nice to have both for tracking of incidents - inexpensive baufang hts are cheap and go everywhere - do have them loaded with CERT frequencies KM6RIX Mike West Sacramento ------------------------------- We now ask West Sacramento CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: Woodland ------------------------------- We now ask Woodland CERT members to check into the net. Checkins: WA6TQJ Gary - net controls have issues on the 800MHzs - abbreviation and photonitcs are unusual - when dispatch runs net controls they're very good ## Late Members We will do visitor checkins in a moment, but first are there any late members of Sacramento Valley CERT teams, or CERT members that aren’t on the roster that would like to check into tonight’s net? *Handle any late checkins* Visitors ------------------------------- We will now accept visitor checkins to the Sacramento Valley Multi-City CERT net.  You do not need to be affiliated with a CERT team to check into our net.
