Opening Announcements

What's the biggest impediment your CERT team faces for keeping the CERT team trained, or keep members active and engaged, or recruit enough members, or organize meetings, etc.  And do you have any solutions for said impediment.



Now we will begin CERT team roll calls, grouped by participating City CERT teams.  We will take any late or missing members after roll call finishes.  After roll call, we will call for visiting stations.


Davis City CERT

- Education of the upper leadership in the fire departments, etc.  As turnover happens they have to re-explain why CERT is beneficial to the city, etc

- Workshops and meetings are great, but time commitments are so busy it's hard to get enough people

- CERT flourishes where disasters are more routine
    - areas prone to hurricanes and such, eg.
- In our area, searches for missing people are more common
- Fire departments are also expanding volunteer fire department staff to do logistics work, and that may otherwise be involved in county
- County has little oversight, and the red-cross has also gone in a different direction by recruiting retired health care workers etc.

- Oct 20 at 10:20 was the great shake out - earthquake awareness.  Did anyone participate?
    - Some people got underneath table to practice
    - Participated in some group checkins, some via winlink
    - Filled out USGS "did you feel it"
